Welcome. I’m happy to see you here.

Lorena Scott, LCSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

I am Lorena, a licensed Therapist.

Are you feeling anxious or depressed? Have you recently lost your beloved pet companion to illness? Do you feel you have no one to turn to that understands your pet dog, cat, rabbit, chicken, turtle, pig, hamster, or any other type of pet companion was not just a pet but a member of your family and an important part of your support system? I am here to help you move toward the healing process and provide resources to help you. Pet bereavement is a unique type of loss that needs a skilled professional to help move toward grief recovery. I am a pet parent and a certified counselor in pet loss and bereavement through The Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement. You are the expert on your own life and it would be a great honor and privilege to work together in helping you.

To be of service to others with humility and compassion has been part of my mission in life. My name is Lorena Scott and I am happy and honored to introduce myself to you! My experience as a licensed social worker providing psychotherapy and case management services has spanned over a decade. It has included working for organizations and hospitals, as well as in private therapy practice. I have experience providing individual, group, and family therapy. As the daughter of a United States Army Combat Veteran and sister of an active duty United States Air Force Officer, it has also been a great honor and privilege to have the experience of working with military personnel and their families as a licensed social worker and therapist in the past.

My treatment approach is primarily person-centered, strength-based, and solution-focused. It may also incorporate cognitive behavioral techniques. Every individual is unique therefore I use the techniques that are most likely to be helpful to the individual. I am creative and can quickly move between treatment methods when necessary. As a certified counselor in pet loss and bereavement, I can also assist individuals who are grieving the loss of their pets, as this loss can be as great as losing any loved one. As an animal lover, I know what it is like to lose a pet that you’ve loved and adored.

My Experience

My unique counseling experiences include working with military personnel and their families, individuals experiencing houselessness, members of the geriatric population in the nursing home setting, and with immigrant families providing psychotherapy and case management. I strive to provide excellent psychotherapy services for adults who are experiencing grief, depression, and anxiety.

About Me

I am fully bilingual in Spanish and English, and I plan to pursue a Juris Doctor degree in the future and aspire to become a lawyer. I hope to incorporate my knowledge as a future law student to further understand how the law may help improve the delivery and quality of psychotherapeutic services. Spending time with my fabulous family and my awesome pet companion is also important in my life and helps keep me grounded. I also enjoy cooking, walking, and yoga, and plan to participate in fencing classes.

If you are looking for relief from your struggles, contact me and we can determine if I am the best counselor/therapist for you.

It’s important to find a therapist that’s a good fit. Here’s what you can expect if you come to see me!

Initially, we will meet to discuss your concerns and ensure that I am a good fit for your needs. We will go through the presenting issues and develop a treatment plan that meets your and your family’s needs. For young children, I will meet with the parents individually at first. I enjoy using humor and playfulness to create a relaxed environment.
